Shopping

North Cape Coastal Drive has lots of opportunity for shopping.   In one of our studios, shops and galleries,  you’re sure to find a fascinating treasure to take home with you. Don’t forget to visit our Island artisans’ workshops and studios. You’ll take home a keepsake imbued with the spirit, history and culture of PEI. You’ll find amazing iron-work gardens and whimsical pottery studios. Our crafts peoples’ range of creativity is spectacular.

We have something for everyone. Water Street in Summerside has lots of gift shops and a wonderful vintage book store where you can read up on PEI lore.  As you tour the region, all along our coastal routes, you’ll find tiny gift shops and intriguing general stores.

An attraction not to be missed is the MacAusland Woolen Mill founded in 1870 by Archibald MacAusland. He had to convince the locals he wasn´t crazy for starting up a mill and wanting to weave wool blankets. Today, MacAusland blankets are highly sought after.

Many of our artists have small shops and ateliers where you’ll find Island-made gifts and wares. Quilts and pottery can be bought in these little shops, which are often part of the artist’s home.  Wood-burned scenes and oil and acrylic paintings will give you a glimpse of the Island through an artist’s eye. From masterful wood carvings to lovely sea-glass jewelry, you’ll delight in the beauty our craftsmen and women create.

Don’t forget to take home a taste of the Island too – with our home-made pickles and jams and Maritime-inspired hot sauces! You might also want to pick up a growler or grunter of craft ale, available at both of our local breweries.
