The Ellis Family Band: From the early years 1970’s until the early 1980’s the band played at dances, festivals and weddings across P.E.I. In 1983 they decided to live their dream of playing music professionally and went to Nashville, Tennessee. On this trip they met many influential people in the country music industry, they learned that they would need to work very hard make it in the business. The first song they recorded was “ Easy To Love ” a song written by Ethel and Rick Ellis. When they released the song to radio, things began to happen very quickly. Easy To Love, became an instant hit across Canada, this led to a Juno award nomination for “ Top county group of the year ” . They decided to set out on their first professional tour in June of 1984, this tour gave the band a chance to see if their music would be widely accepted. They weren’t disappointed. One of many hi-lights would come on the first tour when The Ellis Family Band played at what was billed as at that time “ the largest outdoor country music concert in Canada ” .
