St. Simon & St. Jude Parish Church

313 Church Street, Tignish, PE

About

Standing prominently in the heart of Tignish, St. Simon & St. Jude Parish Church is one of Prince Edward Island's most recognizable landmarks. Rising 185 feet above the surrounding landscape, the impressive High Gothic brick church is the largest on the Island and has been a centre of faith and community since the 19th century.

Designed by renowned architect Patrick Charles Keely and built using locally made bricks, the church is noted for its remarkable craftsmanship and striking interior. Visitors can admire beautiful stained glass windows by Morgan and Brothers of New York, a historic Louis Mitchell pipe organ, and richly detailed religious artwork created by Montreal artist F. Meloche.

Today, St. Simon & St. Jude Parish Church remains an active place of worship while welcoming visitors who appreciate its history, architecture, and its important role in the cultural heritage of Western Prince Edward Island.
