Bishop Machine Shop Museum

75 Spring St, Summerside, PEI

About

Step back into Prince Edward Island's industrial past at the Bishop Machine Shop Museum, a preserved early 20th-century machine shop in downtown Summerside. Once part of a thriving foundry complex, the workshop tells the story of the Bishop family's transition from blacksmithing to machining while supporting the Island's fishing, farming, and manufacturing industries.

Visitors can explore the original belt-driven workshop, where historic tools, machinery, and equipment remain much as they were used by three generations of the Bishop family. Guided tours provide insight into traditional machining techniques and the important role the shop played in the region's industrial development.

Open seasonally, the Bishop Machine Shop Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the craftsmanship, innovation, and working history that helped shape Prince Edward Island.
