Bishop Machine Shop Museum

Step into Summerside’s industrial past at the Bishop Machine Shop Museum, a preserved early 20th-century belt-driven workshop. This hands-on museum tells the story of the Bishop family’s evolution from blacksmithing to machining, serving PEI’s fishing, farming, and manufacturing sectors for over a century.

Located in a small wooden building at 75 Spring Street—once part of a bustling foundry complex—the machine shop still holds original tools and equipment used by three generations of the Bishop family. Guided tours offer insight into the transition from traditional trades to industrial innovation, showcasing everything from ploughs and boat parts to custom machinery.

Open June 27 to September 1, Tuesday to Saturday, 10am–5pm. Final tour begins at 4pm.
Admission by donation.
Tours and archive appointments can be booked by calling 902-432-1332.
