Experience Lennox Island

Located off the northwest coast of Prince Edward Island in beautiful Malpeque Bay, Lennox Island is home to the Lennox Island First Nation, a proud Mi’kmaq community with deep cultural roots and a warm spirit of hospitality.

Connected to the mainland by a short causeway, the Island invites visitors to slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience Mi’kmaq culture firsthand. Through storytelling, food, music, art, and hands-on workshops, Lennox Island offers meaningful opportunities to learn, reflect, and celebrate Indigenous traditions.

🌿 Authentic Cultural Experiences Include:

  • Quill Work on Birch Bark – Create traditional art while learning about its meaning and history.

  • Bannock & Clams in the Sand – Cook and connect with community members on the shore.

  • The Beat of the Drum – Make your own hand drum and discover the heartbeat of Mi’kmaq culture.

  • The Kairos Blanket Exercise – A powerful interactive experience that shares the Indigenous history not taught in schools.

Explore peaceful nature trails, blueberry fields, and ceremonial grounds, or browse local crafts and artwork made by Lennox Island artisans. The community also hosts important cultural celebrations throughout the year, including National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21) and the Annual Mawi’omi Powwow (August).

Whether you're taking part in a traditional ceremony, learning a new skill, or enjoying the land and sea, a visit to Lennox Island offers a heartfelt and immersive cultural experience. You’ll leave with more than just memories—you’ll leave with new connections, a deeper understanding, and a full heart.
