MacAusland’s Woollen Mills

MacAusland’s Woollen Mills is a true Island treasure—Canada’s oldest family-run woollen mill and the only mill in Atlantic Canada still producing traditional 100% virgin wool blankets. Located just minutes from Mill River Resort along Highway #2, this historic mill has been operating since 1870 and producing its famous MacAusland Blankets since 1932.

Step inside and experience a rare glimpse of old-world craftsmanship, where many of the machines in use today have been running for over a century. Visitors are welcome to explore the working mill at their own pace—from the front entrance to the sales area—where they can take photos, ask questions, and shop a variety of wool blankets, yarns, and Island-made goods. While no formal guided tours are offered, the friendly team is happy to share the story of how raw wool is transformed into the warm, beautiful blankets that have become a beloved piece of PEI heritage.

A must-stop for heritage lovers, crafters, and anyone looking to take home an authentic, handcrafted piece of Prince Edward Island. Please note: children must be supervised, pets should stay outside, and footwear is required inside the mill.
