North Cape Wind Energy Interpretive Centre & Gift Shop

At the very tip of Prince Edward Island, where two powerful bodies of water collide, North Cape delivers one of the most unforgettable coastal experiences in Atlantic Canada. It’s home to the longest natural rock reef in North America—stretching nearly two kilometres into the sea—and when the tide is low, the reef becomes a walkable path surrounded by red cliffs, crashing surf, and the chance to spot seals sunning in the distance.

The Black Marsh Nature Trail offers a 5.5 km return route along the rugged coastline, with interpretive panels highlighting rare plants, wildlife, and geological features like the remains of Elephant Rock. Towering 80 metres above, the wind turbines of the Wind Energy Institute of Canada add to the drama of the landscape. Inside the North Cape Wind Energy Interpretive Centre, hands-on exhibits share the story of renewable energy, shipwrecks, ghost ships, and the area's deep cultural roots. Visitors can also explore the North Cape Gift Shop, featuring handcrafted Island goods and the locally made SeaSplash bath line infused with Irish Moss.
